DJ KAUSHUN
MASTER OF SOUND
Born Johnny Morales in Northern California’s legendary 209 region—a championship-level turntablist, veteran commercial radio architect, and music executive bridging underground vinyl battles with global independent music distribution.
Executive Biography
DJ Kaushun Master of Sound (born Johnny Morales) is a seasoned turntablist, recording producer, broadcast imaging specialist, and music executive based in California’s Central Valley (the 209). Widely recognized as a foundational pillar of Northern California's urban hip-hop and b-boy ecosystem, Morales has dedicated over two decades to linking underground scratch mechanics with mainstream radio broadcasting and global independent music publishing.
As the founder and registered agent of Future Octave Records, LLC, Morales oversees an independent entertainment catalog affiliated with Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) under IPI/CAE #00892694674.
Unlike battle DJs focused solely on scratch novelty, Kaushun earned his title of "Master of Sound" through relentless attention to frequency response, audio balance, acoustic punch, and crowd psychology. He represents the classic dual-threat artist: an agile hands-on vinyl technician and a forward-thinking entrepreneur.

TO ALL BROADCAST ENTITIES, RADIO CONGLOMERATES, PROGRAM DIRECTORS, AND MEDIA LICENSEES:
This statement establishes public constructive notice and legal demand concerning the ownership, continuous commercial exploitation, and financial liability associated with the entertainment mark, radio show format, and trade name "Bomb Squad DJs."
1. Creation & Origin During Silverado Broadcasting Era (Kelly Drive, Stockton)
The "Bomb Squad DJs" brand identity, format, and broadcast imaging were originally created and introduced into commerce in the early 1990s by Johnny Albert Morales (professionally known as DJ Kaushun) during his foundational production tenure at 97.7 / 98.3 KWIN. This occurred while the station was operated by Silverado Broadcasting at its historic studios on Kelly Drive in Stockton, California. Ownership and priority of commercial use are asserted under the Lanham Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1051, and California trademark law, Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code §§ 14200 et seq. Associated original compositions and audio cues were cataloged with Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI CAE/IPI #00892694674).
2. Absence of Assignment & Corporate Transfers
Successive corporate transactions—including license transfers from Silverado Broadcasting to Citadel Broadcasting and later to Cumulus Media—transferred only station assets owned by the respective licensees. At no time did Johnny Albert Morales execute a written transfer of ownership, copyright assignment under 17 U.S.C. § 204(a), or perpetual work-for-hire conveyance under 17 U.S.C. § 201(b) transferring the mark to any broadcast network.
3. Continuing Violation & Statutory Accounting of Profits
The continuous on-air broadcast, live microphone drops, sweeper imaging, and digital stream marketing of "Bomb Squad DJs" over decades without an executed commercial license constitutes a continuing infringement under federal false designation of origin and unfair competition statutes, 15 U.S.C. § 1125(a), and California unfair competition laws, Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code § 17200. Under the continuing wrong doctrine, each unauthorized broadcast constitutes a discrete commercial violation.
Pursuant to the Lanham Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1117(a), rights holders are entitled to an accounting of profits (disgorgement of commercial advertising revenues derived from the brand) and recovery based on hypothetical reasonable royalties for unauthorized commercial exploitation within the applicable statutory lookback period.
4. Licensing Terms & Resolution
To establish a legitimate licensing framework and address historical uncompensated commercial use, broadcasting entities utilizing the mark must execute a formal Commercial Brand Licensing & Retroactive Accounting Agreement. Continued unlicensed use will be treated as willful commercial exploitation subject to statutory remedies, accounting, and injunctive relief.
